A junction box provides a safe, code-compliant space for housing cable connections for outlets, switches, or splices. They prevent potential electrical shocks, and keep sparks from spreading to flammable surroundings. The incoming cable needs to go to high quality splitter as it comes in the house from Comcast. A Comcast technician came to the house today and said the following: No connection from street to house, Comcast will take care of that with a outdoor junction box on the side of the house Comcast will not connect the junction box to any of the coax in the house. No drilling, no one active line setup. I need to call an electrician.
Or do I need to have an electrician come out and build the junction box and lay the cabling indoors because Comcast's technicians can only get the cables in by drilling from the outside? The reason I ask is because again, I would really prefer to not have to drill holes ( other than the one hole to enter the house ) through a home that was . When Xfinity was here, they installed a gray weatherproof box on the outside of my house to connect the cables. I would love to acquire another one of these boxes for the inside of the garage so that I may clean up the bundle of coaxial cable that is nailed to the wall with clips. . Three boxes are listed below. normally Comcast will bring .As long as the interface box (that's what it is) is for your house (townhouse, row house, whatever) and your house only, that's OK.Wanted to make sure you weren't messing with a pedestal that feeds multiple houses - explaining to the cable company (and potentially the police) why you were tampering with their equipment can be kind of awkward :)
Has anyone had experience getting Comcast to install service on-property at a weatherproof junction box that houses your modem, rather than at your house? About a year ago I got a quote from Comcast for k to extend a plant 250 feet to bring my house within range. We're about 350 feet from the existing plant which serves 3 nearby homes.
My neighbor ran through my yard and damaged the comcast box by the street. All of the cables are open to the elements. I can provide the address. . Hi. I am moving into a new house and discovered that the Comcast box for multiple homes is in our yard. The box has been pushed out from tree root growth. Also not having luck getting a human on .All I need Comcast to do is to activate my service and run a line from the junction box, under the street through the drainage pipe and leave it there at the corner of my property. Probably a 50 foot cable run. You’d be surprised how many houses have Ethernet/coax jacks throughout the house, but majority of them are hooked up to nothing. . definitely do differently is that I would have used a 2-gang box instead for a more gentle cable bend radius inside the junction box. Metro-E is their underlying technology for their dedicated fiber optic lines but that's a totally different class of service (0x24 month contract + 0 installation & 0 activation fee w/ a rack mounted juniper ACX2100) vs residential fiber / rfog which OP appears to have.13 votes, 12 comments. 45K subscribers in the Comcast_Xfinity community. Comcast could connect their junction boxes ground to that ground rod too and that would do the trick. Think of it this way, the idea is to connect the ground of your house and the ground of the comcast wire to the same place. Another word for electrical ground is 'common' which may now suddenly have meaning for you :)Locations like PV inverter, heating, junction box. Reply reply . Also, how the house will be built matters - if you’ve got thick stone or concrete walls between rooms, then you’re going to need an AP in almost every room, and I would strongly urge them to install conduit to the data locations. . Thanks for reaching out to us on the forums. I apologize to hear that you may have a lot of coax cables coming out of the main junction area causing some confusion. Do you happen to have any gray boxes on the side of the house that say "Comcast" on them, or do you see any with a wire running down into the ground? We're doing 20 total runs for the entire house. We have 6 TVs in the house - and we're talking about cutting the cord now - so each TV will need at least 1 data port, plus kids consoles and computers and shit and AP's, couple cameras, wired video doorbell, etc .

Correct. A fiber optic cable goes from your house to the Frontier junction box. For my install in the Tampa area, a separate contractor came to the home a couple days before my install date to run the fiber from the street junction box to right outside my garage. . Still don't know why so many of my neighbors are on Comcast. Reply reply . Yes, I will take care of all interior wiring, that is what I did when we had the DSL installed years ago. Comcast tech came out and confirmed amps on the ground wire. He disconnected Comcast from our ground and measured our ground; it was zero. Then he went to check in the green Comcast box on the street. He concluded that the amps were coming from our neighbors line into ours. He put in an order for filter to be placed on the neighbors line.

Basically, you need to be able to slide a refrigerator box up to the panel face without hitting any obstructions. Based on the amount of work and expense required to relocate a panel, you might want to investigate reconfiguring the A/C duct instead.
