It could possibly be the module for the steering wheel control - heating (C5). Here is the link for the wiring diagrams. As the search function is not the best I had to actually scroll .

You could rig on just the cone filter at the end and delete the stock air filter/box. But that wouldnt do much imho I believe the gain from a cai is more in deleting restrictive air hat and zig zag tube. My gearhead friend says everyone he knows with that gen 1500 has had electrical issues that were fixable but pricey. Having seen this, the only thing I would consider doing is opening the box from the bottom and gutting the inside. Then I would retro fit an eBay tube into there. Stock look with a smoother flow.
